Show notes

About Diana Dzaviza:

Born in Latvia, Diana Dzaviza moved away from home at the age of 15 and left Latvia entirely at 18. Since 2013, she has called Vienna home, arriving as a single mother with her 3-year-old daughter and no knowledge of the language. Despite these challenges, she has emerged as one of the world’s top ultrarunners while working full-time and caring for her daughter.

Her running journey began upon her arrival in Vienna, at a time when she was smoking 20-30 cigarettes a day. Through sheer determination and resilience, she transformed her life and became successful in ultrarunning by 2020. She holds national records in the 24-hour run and 100km run and has won the legendary Spartathlon race from Athens to Sparta (246km) twice.

Self-employed since October 2022, Diana has continued to excel in both her professional and athletic pursuits, inspiring many with her remarkable story of perseverance and success.
