Ep.106 How to find courage to be who you are meant to be - with Jen Sulak

Show notes

Jen Sulak is an experimental artist and wedding photographer who loves the connection that still moments bring in our modern times. Over 16 years ago she started the journey of becoming a photographer which has brought her to 2020, the year that started her hyper-niche brand of Weirdo Weddings Photography. This niche speaks to many couples out there looking for acceptance, inclusion and visibility in a saturated wedding industry world. Jen is one of many amazing quirky voices in the industry stepping out to share, collaborate, connect and CREATE with others.

A few professional highlights of her career: Cameos on "Fandemonium" by Adam Richman, TLC's Say Yes to the Dress: Atlanta, Non-Binary fashion week on Offbeat Wed, The cover of Quirky Weddings Magazine, A full feature episode on Sony's "Facing Creativity" with Brooke Shaden and her Vow Renewal LIVE on Kidd Kraddick in the Morning Radio Show in DFW. She also began her own podcast called "Tattoos and Toddlers" a podcast that looks at having a business with young children, caretaking and fun tattoo stories. Her guests are a range of hard-working individuals sharing their REAL life stories and inspirations for us all. This began inspired by her fellow wedding pros struggling to address this in their lives and how it all intertwined in the end.

In this episode, you will learn:

  • Why trying to fit in won't make you happy long term
  • How to embrace who you are
  • We are discussing the term "weird" and why it is the new cool
  • Jen is speaking on finding identity and passion

Quotes:

"And I have learned that as I start to talk about it more, I find a better definition, the more I talk about it and what I have defined it as. When you know that you feel a little different or see things a little differently, sometimes your home looks different than somebody else."

"I think it's really just embracing everything that you feel is weird about you. That is definitely perceived culturally as weird, right? Like we make crazy art. We have fun fashion sense. We think differently. We don't always follow the norm. Very creative people, people that really just want to be who they are."
