Ep.104 Using adversity as a foundation to level up in life - with Daniel Gospodarek
Show notes
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Denver, Colorado. I sustained a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) going into my senior year of high school that nearly took my life. This directed me to the 'helping profession.' My TBI needed immediate medical attention and I continue the recovery process to this day. I started my private practice which focuses on trauma/PTSD, anxiety, depression, bipolar, schizophrenia, and TBIs to support and empower those who experience these challenges live the lives they desire.
In this episode, you will learn:
- Adversity isn't the last stop. Beyond adversity lays purpose
- How to look at adversity as a north star and direction to a fulfilled life
- The meaning of purpose
- Daniel speaks about his recovery journey and how he used adversity as a stepping stone to level up life
Quotes:
"So it's. It's complex, to say the least they did say that I probably wouldn't graduate high school with my cohorts or my group that I started with. And they, they kind of prepped my parents. They're like, we don't know if he's going to make it to the next 24 to 48 hours."
" I think realizing and growing up in the area of Wisconsin, and I know there are probably similar areas throughout other states or even in Wisconsin, but that nobody was going to do this for me. So I could, I could allow this, this incident, this traumatic incident, TBI, whatever, however we want to reference it to define my life, or I can use it as a stepping stone."
"So it wasn't until my sister came over and she's also a social worker. And she was like, you should check out this profession. And then it was that coupled with the volunteering opportunity that I did that really solidified. Like, this is kind of where I want. This is kind of where I want to be."
