Ep.102 Navigate motherhood and leadership - with Sara Bohling

Show notes

I am a wife, mom to 2 girls- middle & high school; as well as a sweet golden retriever. I am a sunset enthusiast and have a strong Christian faith. I have been a registered nurse for 20 years, used to work in Neonatal ICU. I had a hybrid role- part direct care of babies, part leadership role within my unit as well as the whole hospital.

Things changed suddenly in 2017- when I woke up one day unable to get out of bed. I’ve had a significant, debilitating health journey- with a rare, invisible illness- that I am continuing to heal from.

I listened to my body’s plea for balance and launched my business to help prevent other leaders and working moms from ending up in my shoes- where your body forces you to stop and listen.

My business- Cedar Wellness & Coaching is built on the foundation of improving the overall well-being of individuals and leaders- whether that is at work, at home or in the community.

Being a mom…I am all about empowering and supporting women- especially high-level leaders- as they navigate the intersection of work and motherhood. Abandoning hustle culture and stepping into a nourishing, heart-aligned life.

Helping them find balance, rediscover joy, be present in the moment and care for themselves- so they can continue caring for others.

In this episode, you will learn:

  • How to deal with overwhelm when you have to do it all. The job and the family
  • Finding back joy and creating support systems
  • Bouncing back in times of adversity
  • Finding hope and purpose after tragedy
  • Sara is sharing her story of how she got to support mothers in leadership roles

Quotes:

"It took a long time, a lot of doctor's appointments, confusion, diagnosis, misdiagnosis, gaslighting, all the things to figure out what was going on, and I'm happy to share more of that. I'm still healing from that health journey, but I have come to a place where I want to support other women who are in a leadership role so they don't end up in my shoes."

"So that they're not ignoring the pleas of their body and their unbalanced life and get to a point where their body surrenders for them."

"And retrain my brain how to handle those situations. Once I got to the point where I felt like I wasn't in professional patient mode anymore, I really had that stirring and the yearning in my heart to serve other people again. Like that's what a nurse is created to do is to serve other people and help them in a time of need."
